The landing and takeoff zones at the Pontoise-Cormeilles-en-Vexin hub were adapted for the test earlier this year.

The all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, 1st designed by California startup Joby Aviation, is a helicopter powered by six rotors. It was designed to be as quiet as possible in order to fit into busy city life without disturbing residents.

The technology is spreading across the world. Urban -Air Port and Hyundai motor co are jointly developing eVTOL across the UK, US, and Australia. Rome is also planning to start its first flying taxis operation from Fiumicino airport in 2024.

Britain’s Vertical Aerospace and Germany’s Volocopter and Lilium are giant competing European firms.
